It's A Wrap...

Just a quickie today - here is the gift wrap that I wrapped Tracey's birthday present in (hence the 't'!).

The stamp set was Summer Silhouette, and the colours were Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Night of Navy and Soft Sky.  The 't' came from the Larger Than Life alphabet set.

If you look closely, you can see the 't' has been coloured with the clear Wink of Stella pen.  I'd not used one of these before, but it is now my favourite item in my craft bag!!

Pop back again soon!!

Happy Mother-In-Law Day...

Today's card is the card I made for my mother-in-law for Mothers Day.

The papers are from the English Garden DSP, and the letters are from my favourite Epic alphabet.

I've used Rose Red as my accent colour, but you could have chosen almost any colour with this beautiful paper!

I added the little bumble bee as a last minute touch - he's quite cute!!

Thanks for dropping by.

Happy Mothering Sunday Mum...

...bit late, but here is my mum's Mothering Sunday card, beautifully modelled by my lovely mum!

The background was made using the ever faithful Hardwood stamp, and I cut each 'plank' and inked the edges to give it a more realistic look.

I know everyone thinks their mums are the best, but mine truly is!!  I don't know how she does it but she knows what I need even before I do!

So, Happy Mothering Sunday mum - love you lots

Happy Birthday Little Sis...

Well, she's not really my little sis, because I am the youngest, but I've always referred to her as my little sis as she is the youngest of the sisters I've got - now that makes sense in my head, but not sure that it makes sense when I write it down!!  It was a bit of a strange birthday for Tracey this year, as most of the attention went towards Fee, but she will get her own back in 2 years time when she will take centre stage for her 50th - I bet she can't wait!!!

Tracey's card was one that I made at a card club last year - I chose it for her because I knew she would like the colour scheme.  It's quite difficult to chose cards for family now because Fee comes to most of my classes so we often end up sending similar cards to family.  Last year we sent dad the exact same card, and this year we both sent Tracey the same style card, but one was landscape and one was portrait!!!  I guess we should talk to each other more!

These cards have been made using the Crazy About You photopolymer bundle which includes the 'Crazy About You' stamp set and the 'Hello You' thinlits, and the colours are Rose Red, Blackberry Bliss, Blushing Bride and Old Olive.

Thanks for popping by. Will be back soon!

Happy Birthday Big Sis...

The next celebration was my sisters birthdays.  I have two sisters, and they share the same birthday, but there are two years between them! The oldest sister had a special birthday this year (don't tell her I told you, but she hit the big 50!).  We went out for a lovely family meal, and had a great time.

Here are my sisters - Fiona and Tracey - and here is Fiona's birthday card.

I used the Number of Years photopolymer stamp and die bundle, and the beautiful Birthday Bouquet Designer Series paper for the bunting, which was punched using the Banner punch.

I think she liked it!  Not sure that she liked the number on the front much though!

Thanks for dropping by!

To A Classic...

There have been quite a few events since I last blogged - including family birthdays (one really special one) and Mothers Day. I'll start at the beginning with my dad's birthday which was 12th February.  My dad, who is now retired, used to have his own garage called Ace Motors - great name, and part of the reason why my blog is called Acorn Papercrafts.  If you were ever looking for a garage in the yellow pages (do you remember those days?!!), he would always be the top of the list! A very basic piece of marketing advice he gave me when I was very small, and it stuck with me! Anyway, cars were always a major part of our life, so when I saw this card on Pinterest, I knew I had to recreate it for him.

If you look close enough, you may be able to see that I have handwritten the number plate ACE1 on the car too!  This card will be reappearing later next month as part of my April card class.  If you would like more details, please get in touch!

The stamp set is Guy Greetings and includes lots of male ideas, as it's name suggests!

The colours I've used for this are Sahara Sand and Night of Navy, and the background was created with the Brick Wall Embossing folder.

This card was just perfect for my dad, but I will need to borrow it back for the April card class so that we can see how to recreate it!!

I promise I'll be back soon!
